INCIDENTS 2008

Jan 1st    Search dog called to assist Edale and Buxton teams with a search on Kinder for a party of five who were lost in misty conditions. Located by search dog Tyke, party member with abdominal pains was stretchered off.

Jan 29th Called at 23:00 to assist  South Yorkshire Police search for a missing, 49 year old male last seen earlier that afternoon.  Misper had recently undergone heart surgery. Mispers car was located at Tankersley golf course where he had a hobby of collecting golf balls from the undergrowth. Quick searches with police units and police dogs had failed to locate the misper. Two over passes with the police helicopter looking for heat sources in or near the stream failed to turn up results. All night search failed to locate misper, at first light Edale and Derby teams were called to assist and the mans body was found in dense undergrowth near were a search dog had indicated during the night.

Feb 3rd . Assisted fell runner on Mickleden Straddle fell race who had twisted his ankle whilst descending Cut Gate track back to Langsett

Feb 24 th . Called by South Yorkshire Police to search for a 42 yr old woman who was missing from home overnight. The women was a fell runner who had recently had a knee replacement operation. The team were tasked with searching woodland and waste ground around Dodworth. She was found semiconscious near the transpennine trail, after stabilising at the scene she was flown by Police helicopter to Barnsley General Hospital.

March 02nd  Trainee dog handler, whilst training in Hope Valley area, assisted Edale - Buxton snatch squad to evacuate a 68 yr old woman with severe facial injuries who had been blown over in strong winds near Mam Tor.

April 12th Called to assist Edale at Dale Dyke Res, where a 60 rd old woman had slipped on muddy path and injured her ankle, evacuated to road to waiting ambulance.

April 17th Search for a 70 yr old male who had not returned home after going for a walk, Whiston area south of Rotherham, Edale and 3 search dogs also involved, nothing found. The mans body was found 2 days later 20kms away.
