INCIDENTS 2006

 

21 st Jan   Assist SY Ambulance with trail biker with broken leg, Beesley wood Hillsbourough.

 

22 nd Jan   Dog unit asked to assist with search for missing women suffering Alzheimer, Chorley area.

 

04 th Feb   female runner on Mickleden fell race treated for calf muscle problems.

 

18 th Feb Search,   Missing male, Bleaklow, search by Edale, Glossop, Woodhead and SARDA. Found near Snake Road.

 

04 th Mar   Snatch,   04-45, Back Tor, runner on Peak Marathon with badly broken lower leg, airlifted off, after examination by Doctor confirmed serious injury with complications.

 

02 nd Apr Snatch,   11-45,   Digley area, walker slipped badly fractured leg and ankle. (6 seperate fractures)

 

02 nd Apr   Search,   18-00   Upper Derwent, missing mountain biker. Found before being deployed. Edale and SARDA also involved.

 

08 th Apr. Search.   13-00   Margery Hill and all access routes. Walker in distressed state in adverse weather, located near dukes drive, treated at HQ for Hypothermia. Edale and SARDA also involved.

 

11 th April. Search. 13-30   Shirebrook Country Park, for 79 yr old Alzheimer sufferer, missing from home on his daily walk. Nothing located, his body was found 4 days later in a different area.

 

19 th April. Medical.   Team member dealt with man who had collapsed into a diabetic coma, administered medication and then removed the man to his Doctors for further tests.

 

23 rd April. Medical. 08-30   Team member on way to Team exercise dealt with RTA involving cyclist and car. Cyclist suffering from severe 'cheese grater' effect when sliding along road.

30th April Search. 19-02. A couple and their dog on a walk from Langsett to Margery Hill had phoned to say they were lost somewhere around Margery Hill, they had no map or lights. they were located at Flint Hill. Edale and SARDA also involved.

5th May Dog unit search aroung Hayfield for women missing overnight, found safe near Kinder Scout

11th May Search 17-30.Search of Bleaklow plateau for a male who had set off from Glossop in the morning and had contacted his partner to say he was lost and stuck by some crags. A long search eventually found him near Howden Edge, overlooking the head of the Derwent Valley. Edale, Glossop and SARDA also involved.

5th June Snatch 14-20 Mountain Biker with suspected back injuries, after coming off bike descending dry water course and going down waterfall in wooded area.Wharnclife Wood, Deepcar.

17th June Search a 67 year old woman suffering Alzeimers, missing from home during night. Search of wooded areas around Shelley, nothing located. Holme Valley also involved.

18th June Search Dog unit deployed to search Storthes Hall woods, continuation of search of previous day, nothing found. 3 search dogs used.

25th June 2 members attended major road accident on way home from training weekend, set up triage and administered immiate aid till emergency services arrived, then continued until all removed from scene to hospital.

17th Aug Dog unit called to assist with search for mising family on Kinder Scout in bad weather, family located by party from Buxton MR.

26th Aug Walker with broken leg near aircraft wreck in Blacks Clough, Bleaklow, helicopter in area on exercise diverted to lift off casualty, team members assisted at road head to transfer to ambulance for final transfer to Huddersfield R.I.

29th Aug Climber fell on Banana Wall, Wharncliffe suffering lower back injuries, evacuated to Ambulance at road head in darkness for transfer to hospital in Sheffield.

07th Sept. Woodhead and Edale Teams tasked by South Yorkshire Police to search for a missing vulnerable male in his late sixties in woodland near Abbeydale Road, Sheffield. The search was concluded at around 8.30pm with nothing found. The mans body was later recovered from Dam Flask Reservoir, about 8Km away, the next day.

10th Sept Team tasked by South Yorkshire Police to search for a missing vulnerable women in the Wath upon Dearne area, near Barnsley. Located safe and well by SY Police.

21st Sept Search around Crowden in Longdendale after a 55 yr old males car was found by Police at 01-00. The man from Matlock had been reported missing on the 20th Sept. He was located by search dogs in the Crowden Little Brook area and evacuated by stretcher and land rover to Hospital. Glossop and SARDA also involved. Kinder and Oldham teams were tasked to join at first light.

22nd Sept Search. called at 03-00 to assist Kinder and Glossop to extend a search of Bleaklow for a man missing after being seperated from a party out walking. The man was located at 04-30 with ankle injuries and was airlifted by RAF to Huddersfield RI.

08th Oct Search 01-30. Thorne area 52 yr old woman failed to return from walking dog in the evening. search during night proved negative, Kinder, Oldham and Derby teams to assist at first light, woman was found at about 11-00, outside of original search area by members of team, she was treated for hypothermia and effects of diabetics, and then stretched to road for transfer to hospital.

24th Nov Dog unit called to assist Keswick with search for missing male walker, Cat Bells area, located fatal.

26th Nov Members on SARDA training called to assist Edale with a man with fractured femur, Chatsworth Park.

25th Dec Search for 70yr old male missing on Big Moor, located by search dog and and stretched off suffering hypothermia.

28th Dec Snatch Mountain biker came off bike descending Cut Gate track near Langsett, suffering multiple fractures to collar bone and chest & head injuries.
